Happy birthday Wally!

Easy Sunday

On our way from church, I felt like telling the kids that it was their turn to make lunch. We had a couple of hamburgers leftover from the day before.
To start with, Weston said we always have vegetables, so he got the bag of mixed veggies out. Then he saw the leftover hamburgers, so we split them in half, so each could have a half. Then he thought we could also make macaroni!
Noah wanted to be in charge of dessert. He has a kids cookbook and he thought of making the fruit covered in chocolate. He loves oranges and we had them! So below is the result!

Great work kids! It was a test and they passed!

Oranges were a little hard to dip in chocolate and keep them looking good... But they were yummy!

Making decisions

Noah, most of the time, is very particular regarding his clothes.
I went to the boys bathroom to clean it and this is what I saw in the trashcan.

At first I didn't know what it was so I had to look closer. He threw away a pair of jeans because he didn't like the way they fit!
So I took them out (trash can was empty), and told them we just don't throw away clothes, but they could be donated and someone else could use them. He has other pairs that fit better so I didn't force him to keep those (they were hand-me downs) so it was ok.

suited up

One of the weekends Wally came in town from his job in the nuclear power plant in Louisiana, he brought an extra disposable suit that he uses for work, for us to see what he looks like when he works there.
His big smile shows how much he enjoyed working there, in a totally different environment.

Then he took a picture of himself at work, before he had to put his phone away.

Here is the job site from far.

Having fun...

Wally surprised us for Valentine's day weekend and flew in town for the 4 day weekend! The kids and him had Friday to Monday off! What a treat! So the main goal was to spent time with the kids and have fun. So Friday morning shortly after he was home, he mowed the backyard and then played soccer with the kids. Well, too much fun was involved that Wally kicked the soccer ball too hard and hit  one of our bedroom windows... there was glass pieces all over our room, our bed and went even into our bathroom!!! So, that added to the weekend projects.
Noah loves to be involved in projects.
And if you wonder where Weston is..... he DOES get invited to participate and sometimes he doesn't. But at this time was ok since he was doing reading homework in the computer.
Another project was to finish repairing a sheetrock piece in the boys bathroom. While, redoing the boys' bathroom, we had installed a double rod towel holder, and Wally bumped into it one day and cracked sheetrock a little bit.
Anyway, I wanted a picture of Weston and Noah not only helping but of how different they are, including weekend morning routine. Noah will wake up and get dressed, jeans and all. Weston will stay in his jammies and even include his robe to stay warmer! He did help daddy this time!
And yes, Wally likes his Bluetooth device!

4th finished blanket

One of the things I do and enjoy while staying at home is sewing... I decided to make a little baby blanket for my youngest nephew Jonathan Medina. He will be one year old on the 16th. So this is the finished product and my 4th blanket made ever! Thanks Grandma Nicholas for a lot of the fabrics (I had some and bought some). I decided to do my own binding to it and my own quilting. I washed it and it didn't come apart!!! :) Then I sent it to Utah, with love.

p.s. I did not use my best camera for these pictures...

Friday family night

We love it when it's Friday since we don't have to rush with homework, dinner, and normal weekday routine. Wally is leaving tomorrow Saturday to Louisiana and we are not sure when he will be able to come back, since he is carpooling with his friend and co-worker Troy. So tonight was pizza and movie and game night! We love all of the above. We wanted to spend time as a family as much as we could and to enjoy.
 We enjoy a Papa John's...
Playing "Headbandz".... guess what cartoon character I am...?
Getting tired towards the end of the movie...

Own bank account

We have been teaching the kids about saving and Wally explained to them about saving the money in the bank. They have been excited about opening their own account and when Wally got back from San Antonio, they reminded him that we needed to do that. So we went with their envelopes and opened their accounts!

p.s. Noah's face is not the best, but there was no other picture.

First Pinewood Derby Race!

This was Wally's last day at his San Antonio, TX job. We had been praying that he came back on time to go with us to Weston's 1st Pinewood Derby Race with the cub scouts. That previous weekend he had worked with Weston at Wally's friend's house doing Weston's car. Also, we worked some at home (no pics). So when he came that Friday afternoon, he finished with Noah his car. He had a predesigned spiderman model.

Weston had decided to build from scratch a copy of a Hot Wheels car.

Here is Weston's car (the silver one by spiderman) and Noah's is spiderman.

Weston is watching his car come!

Noah is excited for his car. He is not in cub scouts, but they gave the siblings a chance after the official race.

Weston and Noah both won some races.

"Love is kind..."

I want to capture "kind" moments, and this is one where, a normal Monday evening, Weston was teaching his little brother how to use the "ball shooter"... It feels good when they are playing nice together and helping each other out.

Hail to begin the new year!

So, Noah and I were at home when we heard some noise on the roof....We looked out the window to our backyard and we saw hail! Those balls were about an inch big! They were the biggest I have ever seen. We put some in a cup and saved them in the freezer for Weston to see. It lasted for only a few minutes, but it happened!

New Year's Day!

For New Year's Day, Wally was back in San Antonio, TX working at the Randolph Air Force Base. He was missing us a lot and asked if I could rent a car and come with the kids to see him. So the next day, we went and rented a small car and drove there! We got to his hotel and waited till he got off from work. His roommate was nice enough to go sleep with one of the other guys so we could have their room with the 2 beds. That night, we went out to a Mexican restaurant where they all were eating.
The next day, Wally went to work, and the kids and I got breakfast there, then got ready and went out to the town... we did a little shopping, got a late lunch and came back to relax at the hotel. When Wally came back, we went to eat at Denny's, upon the kids request.
On Friday, we woke up, had the free breakfast and got ready to check out. Wally was sweet enough to come at his lunch time and help us get the suitcases in the car. We were going to move to a hotel in downtown San Antonio. He was going to drive there after work. So we went to a nice hotel we had been before. Kids and I had lunch there and waited for Wally in the comfy beds (too cold for pool).
At night, we went out to a 3D Cirque du Soleil show at the theater, and then walk in the rain. It was a good family night!

The next morning we had the most wonderful breakfast!

Then we went to do the famous walk around the Riverwalk, ate ice cream cones, visited the Alamo, watched a live presentation (shooting), and enjoyed!

Watched live music...

 Bought a little souvenir...

What a fun treat to start the New Year!!
